“What is Baby Blues and How to Overcome It” by Siti Rohmah, S. Pd

Baby Blues is a sadness feeling that is felt by almost all women in the world after their postpartum period. It happens because in the postpartum period women’s hormones are in an unstable stage. It is one of physiological illnesses which have to be treated as soon as possible. 

To know whether a woman is having baby blues, we have to know the symptoms of this illness, among others: becoming emotional so easily, crying for no reason, don’t want to give breastfeeding to their baby, hating their baby, in the worst case there is a woman who has this syndrome can kill their baby or commit a suicide. Because of these reasons, Baby Blues must be overcome before it becomes worse.

Several ways can be used to overcome Baby Blues. They are:

  1. Don’t let a woman do the houseworks by themselves!
    In the postpartum period, a woman needs some time to recover their wound. She can involve the husband in doing the houseworks or taking care of the baby.
  1. Get enough rest, do the exercise, and get enough nutrients!
    During pregnancy, all women can’t sleep well even more after they give birth to their baby. They have to give breastfeeding to their baby all day and night long and it really takes women’s time and  drains the energy. The women can make a shift in taking care of the baby with their husband and take a rest for a while. Moreover, In their leisure time, they also can do exercises. It also can maintain their body fit. Furthermore, getting enough nutrients is also important to help women recover the wound immediately.
  1. Share the problems!
    By telling the problems to trustworthy people, it can relieve the burden. Keeping the problems only makes it dangerous for their psychology. 

In conclusion, by helping a woman in their postpartum period can help them to be spared from Baby Blues syndrome and all they need is some help from their family especially their husbands.
